Pa Negre. TWO masterpieces

In these last Christmas, I had occasion to spend some days in Barcelona, \u200b\u200bvisiting my family and friends. After reading the back cover convinced me and bought it. I added it to the collection of books I have at home unread, and then forgot it.

With Goya Award nominations, Pa Negre cited again and again. And in the Gala was the most awards, nine Goya awards, among which are Goya for best film, best director, best adapted screenplay, for best supporting actress and best actor and actress.

I decided to read it. Last week, in three or four sitting, I swallowed the nearly four hundred pages of the book, and loved it. I thought, frankly, a masterpiece. The novel is dramatic, because the characters are adults dragged their lives without dignity, seeking their own survival as paramount. Conversations half (so that children do not understand at once all the evils that surround them) and many lies hidden dark past episodes, but the novel never detailed. And children, listen here there and tying ropes, they get older among so many lies, and try to get an idea of \u200b\u200bthe world in which they live. With much despair and misery enough. Andreu's mother works in the factory, and leaves her child in the house with the grandmother, because she has no time to deal with it. The novel is beautifully told, with a restrained narrative, which reflects those conversations interrupted, such half-truths, these great secrets.

On the top floor of the farmhouse is the good china, which is only used when it comes to eating masters. And the house is inhabited by ghosts who walk at night, and, possibly, humans are far more than you think children and the grandmother tells.

Andreu get out of this world, oppressive, and go to study with the Piarists to a larger city.

The novel is dramatic and can make you poke a tear in some passages. The film is much more tragic, full of terrible truths revealed.

The film is inspired by the novel, but it is not novel in pictures. The best recommendation I can make you is to read the novel and then you see the movie. Or vice versa. In any case, are two pleasures in one place.
